The greatest mystery of Warlikowski's theatre is the extraordinary ambivalence of the good and evil. The ominous beauty Prospero refers to commenting on Ariel's acts, makes an enormous temptation, the evil seduces, it's spectacular and sophisticated. The good is unattractive, not spectacular and no stage-friendly. It has no chance to win a popularity contest, which contest makes a scale for a new world. What's more - even when good wins, it's usually to late. These victories only matter to the few. The evil continues its glaring harvest. The splendor of the good is quiet and humble. In his The Tempest Warlikowski sets an out-of date question about the value of the virtue and rebuilds the rank of guilt.
