Why Helena S.?
No answers. Just questions.
The suicide of a young woman without any obvious reason.
I direct, I don't act, since this is obviously a play only for men but I take advantage of my perspective as a woman and I build up the story of the absent Helen and in a way I defend her from the men in her life.
First all the issues with the corpse which needs an autopsy, then the body which deserves respect to be able to get rid of it. What does she feel then? I'd like to get inside that body.
"This stretcher is quiet under my body. They're quietly carrying me into the chapel. Why so quiet? They're not saying anything. It's not comfortable lying like this. Lying down with my head towards the alter. Why is it all about lying? And they make women give birth like this. Beginning and end in such discomfort."
I wonder how Helena S. feels when four men connected to her wait to find out about the inheritance. Helen was flying the night after the funeral. I'm sure about that. She was flying over a huge area of water. In the morning after they read her testament she felt that "it was all unnecessary". Maybe Helena S. became whole then?
She invites us on an extraordinary journey.
