JAN KARSKI. MY NAME IS FICTION in Avignon

Artur Nauzyciel’s Jan Karski.My name is a fiction,based on the novel by Yannick Haenel, opened the Avignon Festival 2011.

The performance, supported by TR Warszawa, was enthusiasticly received by the audience and critics.

Artur Nauzyciel in Les Inrockuptibles: From the beginning I wanted to rehearse in Warsaw and that is how I got in touch with Grzegorz Jarzyna’s theatre. I needed some time for myself and a rehearsal room to face Yannick Haenel’s text and to start learning. In France I couldn’t do that. When I heard myself pronouncing Jan Karski’s words in the rehearsal room in TR Warszawa, suddenly I understood the project’s purpose and meaning. Being in places Karski talks about I was finally able to understand his testimony of what had happened here.
